What Kiln is for

Kiln is a free Shopify theme for single-product and small-catalogue stores — DTC brands, makers, and anyone whose homepage should be the product page. It runs a long-form scrolling story with a buy bar that follows you down, a specification table, a comparison block and an FAQ, all editable as Online Store 2.0 sections.

What’s in it

  • Long-form product story assembled from Online Store 2.0 sections
  • Sticky buy bar that appears once the main add-to-cart scrolls away
  • Specification table and a side-by-side comparison block
  • FAQ accordion built from native details/summary — no JavaScript needed to open it
  • Slide-out cart drawer shared with the rest of the theme
  • Warm, print-inspired palette that is easy to repaint in the editor

Installing it

  1. Download the zipkiln.zip, 88 KB. Do not unzip it.
  2. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  3. Add theme → Upload zip file, and choose the file you just downloaded.
  4. Customize to set colours, fonts and content, then Publish when you are happy.

This is an Online Store 2.0 theme, so every page is built from sections you can drag around in the theme editor — no code needed to rearrange a page.

Frequently asked

Does it work if I sell more than one product?

Yes. It ships a normal collection page and product grid — the difference is that the homepage is built to sell one hero product rather than list a catalogue.

What is the sticky buy bar?

Once you scroll past the main add-to-cart button, a slim bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the product, price and a buy button, so the purchase is never more than one tap away.

Is it MIT licensed like Saltbox?

Yes. Both Shopify themes here are MIT — use them commercially, modify them, no attribution required.

Will it pass Shopify’s theme requirements?

It is built to the Online Store 2.0 structure with JSON templates, section schemas and translation files. It is meant for your own store rather than the Shopify Theme Store, which has its own separate review programme.

The same promise on every theme here

Genuinely free, including commercially

WordPress themes are GPL v2+, Shopify themes are MIT. Either way: use it on client sites, change it, rename it, sell the site you built with it. There is no “pro” version being withheld and no licence key.

No account, no email, no upsell

The download button is a download button. We do not ask who you are and there is nothing to unsubscribe from afterwards.

Nothing phones home

No Google Fonts, no analytics, no external requests of any kind. Everything the theme needs is inside the zip, which is also why they are small.

Not a page-builder trap

Every theme works with the block editor and the Customizer alone. None of them require a plugin to look like the demo.
