Privacy Policy

Who we are

CleanConnect is an iPhone and iPad app made by Jashandeep Singh (“The Big Head”, “we”). It helps people in India report garbage spots, clean them up, organise cleanup drives and support each other. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

When you sign in

• Your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or Google (Apple lets you hide your email).
• An account identifier so we can link your reports, cleanups and points to you.
• Your profile photo, if you choose to add one.

Content you post

• Photos of dirty spots and cleanups, plus the category, size, notes, bag count and crew size you add.
• Cleanup drives you create (title, description, time, meeting point, items to bring, optional WhatsApp group link).
• Comments, reactions (“Respect”, “Still dirty”, “Verify clean”) and drives you join.
• Optional profile details: bio, city and state, UPI ID, a support or fundraiser link, and an Instagram handle.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your device location while you are using it to show spots and drives near you and to pin the spot you report. We store the location of a report or drive meeting point you post, together with the locality, city and state. We do not track your location in the background and we do not store your live location.

Reports and blocks

If you report content, we store the report and its reason so we can review it. Your block list is stored privately with your account.

What we don’t collect

• No advertising identifiers, no ad networks and no third-party analytics or tracking.
• No payment information. Optional support between users happens entirely inside their own UPI apps; CleanConnect never sees or processes payments.

How we use information

• To show your reports, cleanups, drives and comments to the community, on the map and in the feed.
• To calculate Swachh Points, streaks, badges and city, state and India leaderboards.
• To send drive reminders you ask for (these are local notifications created on your device).
• To keep the community safe: reviewing reported content, hiding content reported by several people and removing accounts that break our rules.

What is public

Spots, photos, cleanups, drives, comments, your display name, profile photo, bio, city and state, points and badges are visible to anyone using the app. Your UPI ID and support link are shown on your profile only if you add them. Please don’t post photos that show people’s faces, vehicle number plates or other private information.

Service providers

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage and Cloud Functions) to run the app. Data is stored on Google Cloud servers, which may be outside India. Apple and Google handle sign-in. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account and content while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app: You → Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, your open reports, comments, reactions, drive sign-ups and upcoming drives, and revokes Sign in with Apple. Cleanups and completed drives stay on the map without your name so the community record of cleaned spots isn’t lost. Reports you filed about other people’s content may be kept as moderation records.

Your choices

• Browse without an account; sign in only when you want to post.
• Turn location, camera and notification access on or off in iOS Settings.
• Edit or remove your profile details, delete your own open reports and comments, and leave drives.
• Email us to access, correct or delete your data.

Children

CleanConnect is not directed at children under 13. Young people taking part in cleanups should do so with a parent or guardian.

Changes

If we make significant changes we will update this page and the date above, and mention it in the app’s release notes.
