Terms of Use

Reset: Dopamine Detox for iOS · Last updated 7 September 2026

These terms apply to Reset: Dopamine Detox ("Reset", "the app"), published by The Big Head (thebighead.ca). By using the app you agree to them. They are short because the app is simple.

What Reset is

Reset is a behaviour-change tool for reducing compulsive phone use. It blocks apps you choose using Apple's Screen Time, offers exercises and activities, and shows you statistics computed on your device.

What Reset is not

Reset is not medical advice, therapy, or a treatment for any condition. It does not diagnose anything. If phone use is tied up with anxiety, depression, sleep problems or compulsions that are hurting your life, please talk to a doctor or therapist. The exercises in the app cite published research; that research describes average effects in studies, not a promise about you.

Blocking and the friend key

Blocking depends on Apple's Screen Time frameworks and on permissions you grant. Apple's systems, iOS updates, or restrictions on your device may change how blocking behaves. The friend key is a commitment device you choose to use: if you hand the key to a friend and cannot reach them, the emergency unlock waits for the period you set in advance. You are responsible for choosing a reasonable waiting period and a friend you trust. Do not rely on a block to prevent access in situations where you might need an app urgently.

Your data

Your data stays on your device, as described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for backups; iCloud device backups include app data.

Price

Reset is free and contains no purchases, subscriptions or advertising.

Licence

Reset is licensed to you under Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement for App Store apps. You may not reverse engineer the app except where the law allows.

No warranty and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. The Big Head is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the app, including from an app being blocked or not being blocked. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which is nothing.
