Who we are

Kalend is made by The Big Head, a software studio based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. You can reach us at info@thebighead.ca.

What Kalend stores, and where

Kalend stores the tasks, projects, habits, habit completions and notes you create. This data is written to a database on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive enabled, Apple's CloudKit service replicates that database to your other devices using your own private iCloud storage.

• The data is held in your private iCloud database, not ours. We have no access to it and no ability to read it.
• We operate no servers, no databases and no backend of any kind for Kalend.
• If you are not signed in to iCloud, Kalend simply works locally on that device.

Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Your calendar

The Calendar tab shows events from the calendars already on your iPhone. This requires your permission, which iOS asks for the first time you open that tab — and we show you an explanation before that prompt appears.

• Calendar events are read live from the system calendar each time they are displayed.
• Kalend never copies your events into its own database and never transmits them anywhere.
• If you only want to create events, Kalend can do that without ever reading your calendar.
• You can withdraw calendar access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

Notifications

Reminders you set are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. They are not sent through any push service operated by us and their contents never leave your phone.

What we do not do

• We do not collect analytics or usage statistics.
• We do not use advertising identifiers, and Kalend contains no advertising.
• We do not include any third-party SDK, tracker or analytics library. Kalend is built entirely on Apple frameworks.
• We do not sell, rent or share personal information, because we do not receive any.
• We do not create a profile of you or track you across apps or websites.

Purchases

If you buy a premium subscription or the lifetime unlock, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive anonymised sales reports from Apple. We never see your payment details, and Apple does not give us your name, email address or billing information.

Children

Kalend is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, this is a statement of design rather than of policy enforcement.

Your rights

Under laws such as PIPEDA in Canada and the GDPR in the EU/UK, you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. Since we hold none, these rights are satisfied directly by you: your data is on your device and in your iCloud account, both fully under your control. Deleting the app and removing its data from iCloud (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage) erases everything Kalend has created.

Data retention

We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. Your data persists exactly as long as you choose to keep it on your device or in your iCloud account.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
