Some just want a private pool with four friends and no money on the line. This guide sorts the App Store's MMA apps by which of those jobs each one genuinely does well.
Every app below was checked against its live App Store listing before publication. Anything whose link was dead, or that turned out to be a different app than its name suggested, was cut rather than quietly included. Two well-known MMA apps were dropped for exactly that reason, and Tapology — a household name on the web — has no official iPhone app at all, so it does not appear here.
Features come from the listings themselves. So do the drawbacks: every app gets one, drawn from Apple's own content advisories and from what real users report going wrong. Nothing here is ranked into a league table, because the right pick depends entirely on which of those jobs you care about.

Recent reviewers attack the redesign for turning a simple scoring tool into a cluttered social feed, and report the app failing under load during live pay-per-view cards — crashes, endless refreshing and failed round submissions. Others report inaccurate fighter records, including resumes showing 0-0, and support emails that go unanswered. The redesign also removed the ability to see friends' picks before an event, and Apple's advisories on the listing include Infrequent/Mild Simulated Gambling.

Every app in this category forces a trade-off: the ones that are complete and popular lean on simulated gambling, loot boxes or real-money contests, while the ones that stay clean are either brand new, locked to the newest iOS, or paywall the second-screen features fans most want. Nobody yet serves the fan who wants accurate rankings and records, round scoring that holds up while a pay-per-view is live, and private pools where you can see your friends' picks — with no betting layer attached at all.

Verdict MMA is the established choice — you score each round and compare your card against friends and a global average — but reviewers consistently report it struggling under load during live pay-per-view cards. ROUNDCALL takes a stricter approach: each round unlocks as it starts and locks when the next begins, so nobody can back-fill a card after the fact. The catch is that ROUNDCALL requires iOS 26.0 or later.
Is there a good MMA fantasy app that doesn't involve gambling?
MainCardMMA is the cleanest option — free to play, invite-code private leagues, no money in or out. Verdict also runs free season-long leagues. Be careful with the others: MMA Fantasy and Stats Fight both carry Apple advisories for Loot Boxes and Frequent/Intense Simulated Gambling, and DraftKings is an outright real-money product that is geo-blocked in several states.
Why isn't Tapology in this list?
Because there is no official Tapology app on the US App Store. Searching for it returns only an unrelated app called Tapology Wellness from a different developer. Tapology remains a web-only resource, and any iPhone app claiming otherwise is not the real thing.
Do I actually need the official UFC app?
Only if you want to watch. It is the home of UFC FIGHT PASS and the historic archive covering PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC, and nothing else replaces that. As a data app it disappoints — users report stale cards, missing start times and rankings that lag badly — so most fans end up pairing it with a dedicated tracker.
